This is the simplest of the business types. Sole Proprietorship means there is a single owner for the business. There are no registrations or agreements required. Also there is no seperate entity for the business as such. In case you are operating the firm from home then in many of the business types you do not even need a shop act certificate. You just need to get two rubber stamps done (one for name and address of firm and other for "Firm Name"- blank space fir signing -"Proprietor") and then get a current account in a bank in the name of the firm. In case you are operating out of a shop or office then you need to get a shop act certificate. Its that easy. So in case you want to start a software company or something, just go ahead and start it
